Remember last week when I chatted about some of my go-to design tips that I spoke about at Haven? Well this week I’m back to show you a perfect example of how I actually use some of those tips in real life.

I’m so thrilled to announce I’ve teamed up with two amazing brands (Porch.com and hayneedle.com) to show you how simple it is to change up your space with just a few things – an inspiration photo, a few home decor items.  There’s no need to purchase all new decor if you’re wanting a bit of a change. Here, let me show you…

These are a few photos of my den before the transformation. As you can tell, I LOVE bright colors with bold patterns.

But what if I’m wanting to change things up a bit? Most people might think you need to start from scratch, but I just don’t think that’s true.

I always preach to my friends/family/readers to purchase neutral staple pieces (couches, larger upholstered pieces, media stands etc.) – this allows you to update the cheaper decor without having to literally purchase all NEW decor and furniture. When porch.com asked me to participate in their #SpinThatStyle campaign, I knew this would be the perfect time to show an example of how I could transform an entire room with just a few minor updates.

It all started with this fabulous inspiration photo:

I love how eclectic the whole room feels, but I also wanted to merge some of my own style into the makeover. Here were some of the items I chose from hayneedle.com to help make this transformation happen.

And here is the room after my transformation took place!

My living room typically sports bright hues of pink, turquoise, yellow and green, but for this makeover I wanted to tone things down a bit. Pulling inspiration from Porch.com and using stylish products from hayneedle.com, I focused on designing more of an eclectic look. I used some of the burnt orangey/red tones from the inspiration photo, as well as some yellow hues, to emulate this look. I also went with more southwestern patterns, like the ikat and aztec ones you see in the pillows, poufs and rug.

As you can see, with just 5 items, I was able to completely give the room a whole new look and feel. Isn’t that wild?
