Woah it’s been a while since I’ve blogged, hasn’t it? I’ve been on maternity leave and soaking up every bit of my little boy, Hudson. I’ve also been busy managing the remodel of our 1922 craftsman/prairie-style house. Talk about a lot to juggle, right?

The first project we’re undergoing is the exterior makeover. We’re working with the most amazing painting company in Fort Worth (J&V Painting) and I’ve been over the moon with the progress. Each time I visit the house, more progress is made and a I find myself with a bigger grin on my face each day.

If you recall my inspiration post from a few weeks ago, I photoshopped a “before and after” of my vision for the exterior.

PaintedBrick

I loved the red brick, but the house appeared so dark from the street that I knew we needed to make a change in order to give it a more welcoming feel. The porch felt so dark before, so painting the brick white was the perfect solution to open up the space. After testing a few paint colors, I settled on the below Sherwin Williams colors.

Brick Color: Divine White
Trim Color: Iron Ore
Upper and Lower Window Casings: Stone Lion
Wood Siding (Mainly on Back Porch): Elephant Ear

Below is the first coat of primer.

After the entire house was primed, they started spraying on the Divine White color onto the brick. On the computer screen, the color looks super beige, but in person, the color is rather white with some buttery cream undertones.

When painting a house, you never want to use a bright white. It will end up looking super flat. When looking for the brick color, I wanted to make sure I found a color that wasn’t too beige or too white. If the color is too beige, your house will end up looking dirty all the time when it’s actually just the paint color.

Divine White was the perfect buttery white for the brick. As soon as I painted it onto the brick, I knew I made the right choice.

Below shows us testing a few different paint colors.  We’re still deciding on the ceiling color, so more to come on that!

This week they also started spraying on the Iron Ore trim color. I’m LOVING it  so far and cannot wait to see it completely finished.

So what do you think so far? It looks like a completely different house, don’t you think?
