SHOP THE POST:

My dearest Harper, how are you already 7 months old? In these past few months, you’ve brought your mama and daddy so much joy and laughter. You didn’t smile at us until you were at least a month and a half, you’ve got a pair of lungs like you wouldn’t believe, and you’re trying to crawl but absolutely hate it. I’m pretty sure you’re going to skip crawling and go straight to walking.  Oh, and pink is by far your color. Especially with those brunette locks of yours.

Oh my sweet Harper — you’re just perfect!

I started designing Harper’s nursery many, many months ago. I wanted her room to be colorful, bright and cheery. Her room has a ton of natural light, which reflects perfectly off the light grey walls and beige carpet (Quiet Durable in Champagne) from Shaw Floors to be exact. Since I kept the walls and flooring neutral, I was able to get away with using a lot of bold colors throughout. I also opted out of a large area rug for her room because it simply didn’t need one. I wanted the carpet to be the showstopper since it already has a slight pattern to it. Adding a rug would have just distracted from the flooring that I already loved so much.

I’m also not worried about spills because it’s from the Life Happens line from Shaw Floors, which basically means it’s kid and pet proof.  The carpet is treated with Shaw Floors exclusive R2X stain and soil protectant which is actually what allows the liquid to sit on top of the carpet long enough for you to grab a towel to clean up the mess. Coupled with the LifeGuard backing to prevent liquid from seeping through the carpet pad and subfloor, makes it ideal for kids and pets. Most protectants are applied topically and wash off after the first steam clean. But Shaw Floors manufactures the carpet with R2X so each fiber is coated.

If you’re wondering what my favorite piece is in the room, the coral crib might be it. I searched for MONTHS for a coral crib and ended up finding this one here on Amazon. I also saw that Kohls had the same one, but it was much cheaper on Amazon and had free shipping since I’m a prime member.

I also love the dresser I chose, despite the fact that it took both Chad and I a total of 8 man hours to put together. Seriously. The reviews said it was a terror to assemble, and they weren’t lying. It took FOREVER. But I have to admit that it was all worth it. I found it on Wayfair and paid less than $300 for a 6-foot-long dresser. I needed a large dresser due to the fact that her closet was a little on the small side, so finding this one for such a great price was worth the time and energy. And the design is super minimalistic, which is exactly what I was looking for.

Overall, I love the fun and whimsical feel that her room gives off. I think it’s young enough for a nursery, but will transition well once she starts to get a little older.  But we’re not going to think about her growing up just yet, now are we?
